For two years, he endured the burden of dialysis for four to five hours, four days a week. The toll it took on his quality of life deeply concerned Delayne. She couldn't bear to see her father robbed of the simple joys and activities he cherished.
Delayne made the courageous decision to become her father's kidney donor, even against his wishes. She understood that without her intervention, her father could remain on the transplant waiting list for years.
The road to becoming a living donor was not an easy one. Delayne embarked on a covert mission, hidden from her father's knowledge while they lived under the same roof. She engaged in countless phone calls, medical tests, and consultations with medical professionals, ensuring her father remained oblivious to what she was planning

Despite his concerns for his daughter's well-being, John finally received the long-awaited phone call last August. The transplant team had found him an anonymous donor. Overwhelmed with joy and disbelief, he couldn't fathom the incredible gift fate had bestowed upon him.
On February 16, the day of the transplant, the medical team took extraordinary precautions to ensure John Ivanowski wouldn't recognize his daughter. Separate pre-op and post-op areas were arranged, keeping them apart until Delayne was ready to reveal her identity. The successful surgery took place with the father and daughter in adjacent operating rooms, and they both recovered on the same floor.
The day after the surgery, Delayne entered her father's room and revealed her true identity as the anonymous donor. The emotional moment was captured on video and shared on social media, touching the hearts of viewers all around the world.
